Macugnaga is a wonderful alpine village at 1327 m at the base of east wall of Monte Rosa. The history of Macugnaga, “Pearl of Monte Rosa” began in the twelve century when ethnicity Walser, Albanian group native of Valais, occupied this pleasant basin in Anzasca Valley. This was the beginning of Walser colonization around Monte Rosa. Today the Walser tradition is still visible in the original architecture and costumes that women wear on special festivals. Titsch language is still spoken by elderly into Dorf, a small settlement of 1200 B.C. with it’s church, cemetery and the ancient secular “Tiglio” tree. Running MEHT will be an opportunity to get in touch with a piece of Alpine history.
Due to limited accommodation, you will have a free camping area with WC and Showers. You can install only a tent, no Camper or Van accepted. This area is 1,5 km to MEHT Village and Start/Finish Area.

“Free camping” style area with toilets and showers at the sports field of Macugnaga (Fraz. Testa) where pitches for tents will be created; it will not be possible to park cars inside the sports field but a parking space outside will be guaranteed. ATTENTION: this area is not set up for campers and caravans which can instead park in the designated areas in Macugnaga and in the Anzasca Valley (info at the IAT office in Macugnaga).
